Troutman Strong hosting 'day of love' on May 25 to help community members

Posted at 4:03 PM on May 22, 2019

Troutman Strong, a group of community members who want to help those in need, is planning its fourth “day of love” on Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will raise money for Robert Beard, Kelly Clontz, Jean Dagenhart, Tony Stikeleather, Shelley Mazag, and Marcia Hardy, all of whom are dealing with medical issues.

One hundred percent of money raised will go to the recipients.

The event will be at ESC Park, 338 N Avenue, Troutman. It will feature numerous items in a live and a silent auction, raffles, a petting zoo, bounce house and slide, a car show, a 5K run/walk, live music, and vendors featuring jewelry, essential oils, crafts, and screen printing items.

The dunking booth will feature Register of Deeds Ron “Duck” Wyatt and Sheriff Darren Campbell. The pair may get a friendly challenge going over who can raise the most money for the cause.

Hot dogs, chips, drinks, snow cones, and baked goods will be available for attendees to purchase.

Organizers ask that those who have volunteered to donate items (desserts, live auction items and all raffle ticket money) bring them to Randys BBQ on Friday starting at 5 p.m.

Volunteers helping with set up at ESC Park on Saturday should report around 7 a.m. Volunteers should park at Troutman Funeral Home or Holy Trinity Church. Golf carts will transport people to the park.

The temperature Saturday is forecast to be 95 degrees. Any community members willing to lend tents can drop them off at Randy’s on Friday night or bring them the day of the event with their names marked on them.

Organizers are also in need of a huge tent (like the ones used for weddings). If anyone knows of a business that could donate a tent for the day, please reach out to Tracy Potts (704-682-2900) or Lesa Cash (704-682-8433).
