An estimated 600 kids, parents, and grandparents poured into Troutman’s ESC Park Wednesday evening for the rescheduled Troutman Easter Egg Hunt. As they waited for their egg hunts, kids enjoyed an inflatable slide, Southern Treats ice cream, hot dogs from Wilson’s Wienie Wagon, and other fun activities.
Parks and Recreation Coordinator Emily Watson said the event could not have come off without the help of a lot of volunteers who stepped in after the hunt was rescheduled from a stormy Sunday afternoon. She particularly thanked Troutman Baptist youth pastor Phillip Yarborough and members of his youth group who helped hide 10,000 filled eggs and assorted prizes provided by Southern Treats and Full Belly Deli. Members of the Women’s Ministry also collected and distributed easter baskets to children who came without a basket.
Iredell County Parks and Recreation and the South Iredell High School Interact Club also sent volunteers to help with the event.
“They have been a huge help all day long,” said Watson.
“We had no idea what to expect because last year the event was rained out. We are pleased with the turnout and hope that each family had a great time tonight,” added Watson.
