Festively costumed runners brightened the gloomy afternoon at Sunday’s Jingle Run 5K, sponsored by Troutman Parks and Recreation, at the greenway in front of the Barium Springs YMCA.

Sarah Gray of Children’s Hope Alliance thanked the participants for their generosity in donating jackets, coats, bedding and food for the kids that they serve, numbering over 2,200 last year. “We are thrilled to be a part of this community.”

Iredell County Parks and Recreation Director Michelle Helper and some of her staff were also on hand to share information about the new Iredell County Recreation Center opening on January 7 at the Barium Springs location.

Troutman Parks and Recreation Coordinator Emily Watson thanked the volunteers who made the event happen, including Girl Scout Troop 1060 from Davidson, Jan Comer and Engineered Sintered Components volunteers, ICRD, CHA, and town staff members Stacy McGlamery and Danelle Upright, and Town Manager Justin Longino.

McLelland’s Racing Team provided course design and timing assistance, and Michelle Sparks sang the National Anthem just prior to the race’s start.
