BY DEBBIE PAGE
Five candidates are vying for two seats on the Troutman Town Council on Tuesday, November 5.
Statesville Free News and the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a Candidates Forum on Monday, October 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Town Hall so community members can hear each candidate’s views on a variety of issues facing Troutman.
The candidates are George Harris, Jan Huffman, Eddie Nau, Jeremy Shaw, and Matthew Weber. Huffman is currently serving on the council after being appointed to resigning member James Troutman’s seat in January.
The forum will also be on Facebook Live at https://www.facebook.com/svlfreenews.
Each candidate will have two minutes to make introduction statement time to begin the forum. The moderator will then ask the candidates questions focusing on issues pertaining to the community, covering such general areas as transportation/roads/traffic, taxes, budgeting, economic development, health, public safety, adding recreation amenities, infrastructure, and managing growth.
Citizens may submit questions prior to the forum for possible use at email@example.com.
After the Q&A period, each candidate will also have two minutes for a closing statement.
