Prep Soccer: Raiders suffer first loss of season at A.L. Brown

Despite a valiant effort from goalkeeper Dane Coltrane and the North Iredell defense, the Raiders suffered their first setback of the season in a 3-0 loss on Wednesday night at unbeaten A.L. Brown.

Coltrane was credited with 18 saves on the night and the Raiders (7-1) kept the Wonders out of the goal for the first 61 minutes before tallying three scores in the final 19 minutes.

► Statesville 2, Lake Norman 2: The Greyhounds rebounded from a tough loss at Concord a day earlier by salvaging a tie with the visiting Wildcats on Wednesday night.

Jamie Woodard and Camilio Restrepo scored for Statesville (2-2-1) and goalkeeper Sam Buckner was credited with six saves.

► North Iredell 4, Surry Central 1: Juan Nieto scored a pair of goals to lead the Raiders to their seventh consecutive win to open the seasonon Tuesday.

David Hernandez added a goal and an assist, and Froylan Luna also scored for North Iredell. Spencer Morrison was also credited with an assist.

Keeper Dane Coltrane had 12 saves for the Raiders.
