Prep Soccer: Raiders, Greyhounds earn NPC wins

North Iredell High's soccer team defeated West Rowan 4-1 on Wednesday to set the stage for an epic North Piedmont Conference showdown on Monday.
Playing their third match in three nights, the Raiders scored three first-half goals and then held off the Falcons after the intermission.
Jonah Bamberger scored twice for North Iredell (12-4-1 overall; 6-1 NPC) and Froylan Luna and Junior Chavez each added a goal. Patrick Frye, Zach Pope, Juan Nieto and Luna notched assists, and keeper Frankie Barnes was credited with nine sves for the Raiders.
"Boys survived a three in a row home stand all against solid conference teams," North Iredell coach Tyler Carter said. :Very proud of the effort tonight. We moved the ball great in the first half getting three goals."
The Raiders will host NPC-leading South Iredell (10-1-5; 6-0) on Monday night with a share of first place on the line. South Iredell handed North Iredell its lone conference loss of the season on October 3.
West Iredell 3, North Iredell 1: Bryce Weston scored the Raiders' lone goal and keeper Dane Coltrane recorded nine saves as North Iredell suffered a rare loss.
Greyhounds shut out Falcons
Camilio Restrepo scored a goal and assisted on a second as the Greyhounds rebounded from Monday's tough loss to rival North Iredell to defeat Carson 2-0 on Wednesday.
Restrepo set teammate Jamie Woodard up for an easy score less than two minutes into the match and then added a goal of his own off a pass from Milton Mungia in the game's 15th minute.
Keeper Josh Fuhrman was credited with six saves for Statesville. It was the Greyhounds' fifth shutout of the season.
With the win, Statesville improved to 7-7-3 overall and 4-2 in the NPC heading into Tuesday's home match against North Iredell.
Statesville 2, Carson 1: Ben Fuhrman scored a pair of goals and keeper Nevan Bragg earned the win in goal as the Greyhounds picked up a road win.
