Prep Soccer: North Iredell ties West Caldwell; Statesville earns draw at St. Stephens

North Iredell goalkeeper Dane Coltrane recorded 13 saves, including a penalty kick, on Monday to help the Raiders salvage a 3-3 tie against West Caldwell in a nonconference prep soccer match.

Froylan Luna, Jerick Moreno, and Jonah Bamberger scored for North Iredell. Matthias Moorefield, Juan Nieto, and Froylan Luna were credited with assists.

North Iredell (8-1-1) is ranked 12th in the latest Maxpreps North Carolina Class 3A rankings.

OTHER GAMES

Statesville 1, St. Stephens 1: Ben Fuhrman scored the equalizer midway through the second half on Monday as the Greyhounds tied their second consecutive match.

Goalkeeper Sam Buckner was credited with four saves for the Greyhounds.

Statesville (2-2-2) travels to Mooresville (3-2-1) on Wednesday for a nonconference match. 

North Iredell 4, West Iredell 1: The Raiders dominated the second half and overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to upend the Warriors on Friday.

Spencer Morrison, Jonah Bamberger, David Hernandez and Juan Nieto scored for North Iredell. Froylan Luna and Zach Pope were credited with assists.

Raiders head coach Tyler Carter named Matthias Moorefield as man of the match for playing shutdown defense.

Goalkeeper Dane Coltrane recorded 12 saves for North Iredell.

West Iredell fell to 1-4-2 on the season.
