Thousands of fans enjoyed the skills of young rodeo riders and the antics of the rodeo clown at the 3rd Annual FFA Alumni Rodeo finals at the Iredell County Fairgrounds on Saturday night.

Cowboys and cowgirls participated in barrel racing, breakaway roping, bare back and saddle bronc riding, chute dogging, goat tying, bull riding, tie-down roping, pole bending, ribbon roping, and team roping events.

The crowds also enjoyed a variety of food trucks, featuring burgers, BBQ, hand cut fries, ice cream, and a variety of other treats. Cowboy attire, rodeo equipment, and other items were also on sale.

Teens from the North Carolina High School Rodeo Association (NCHSRA) and other riders participated, with title sponsor Randy's BBQ helping to underwrite the event. The rodeo proceeds will go to fund FFA projects at South Iredell High School.

The SIHS FFA imembers were heavily involved with rodeo setup, operation, and clean up.

Established in 1966, the FFA has grown exponentially at South in the last four years, increasing the program’s financial needs for tools and funds to provide opportunities for participants. The program’s quest is to help members become successful leaders in the agricultural field.
