Nine teams competed for the Get Fit Iredell Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday morning, enjoying friendly ribbing and spirited play at the Statesville Fitness & Activity Center.
The Statesville Fitness & Activity team claimed the championship. The Town of Troutman Crushers took second place.
The Get Fit Iredell coalition sponsors fun, active events, including the Pick Your Fun Day at Lake Norman State Park, a kickball tournament, yoga workshops, color run/walks, dance-a-thons, and family friendly competitions.
Upcoming Get Fit Iredell events include the Dance-a-thon on the Saturday, April 13, at the City of Statesville Arbor Day Celebration at the soccer complex (2012 Simonton Road). This free event for the whole family features a fun 5K, live music, tree giveaways, kid friendly activities, local healthy vendors, Farmers Market booths, arts and crafts merchants, hayrides and inflatables, food trucks, and City of Statesville Touch-A-Truck. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The annual Get Fit Family Frenzy, at its new location at the Iredell County Recreation Center (previous Barium Springs YMCA location at 122 Grannis Lane), will be at 2 p.m. on May 5. Families or small groups are invited to tackle a set of obstacles and activities for a fun, healthy afternoon. One lucky family will receive a Great Wolf Lodge Gift from the participant raffle.
Get Fit Iredell will also be featured on the April 25 edition of "Why Should I Care?” on WSIC at 8 a.m.
