Yonnah Ann Parks Daye
Ms. Yonnah Ann Parks Daye, 42, of 917 Inglewood Road, Statesville, N.C., was born in Mecklenburg County on January 12, 1977. She was the daughter of Melvin Nelson Parks and the late Mrs. Betty Lou Locke Aquilera. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She attended the Statesville High School and at the time of her death was employed as a newspaper carrier for the Statesville Record & Landmark.
In addition to her father, Melvin N. Parks of Mooresville, she leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her life partner, Nakoda Ramsey of Statesville; sons, Antonio (Whitney) Troutman and Shakur Dontrez Daye, both of Statesville; her daughter, Desiree (Anthony) Daye of the home; her special mother, Linda Smyre of Statesville; her dog, Buddy Pickles Parks of the home; five brothers, James Lawrence, Willie (Carolyn) Lawrence, David Parks, and Melvin Colvert, all of Statesville, and Linny McIntosh of Mooresville; eight sisters, Pamela Lawrence, Patricia Rucker, Shirley Lawrence, Teresa (Kenya) Rankins, Ruby Smyre, Linda Smyre, Betty Frazier and Doalicia Parks, all of Statesville; five grandchildren, Javarii, Antonia Jr., Azijah, Peighton and Aveyah; two goddaughters, Zykeyah Parks and Keyunna Moss; an aunt, Annette Bey of Cleveland; a host of nieces and nephews, including Justine Alexander, Larajaha Parks, Lashonda Lawrence and Kenddrick Lawrence; and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 3 to 3:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times. Reverend Christopher Sherrill will officiate and burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
