Wade Franklin Morrison
Mr. Wade Franklin Morrison of 560 South Greenbriar Road, Statesville, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 12, 2019, following an extended illness. He was born in Catawba County on June 16, 1949, and was the son of the late Curlee and Mary Nell Scott Morrison.
He was married to Helen Wineska Gaines Morrison, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carlee Morrison; and his father-in-law and his mother-in-law, Jim and Geraldine Stovall.
Wade was a 1967 graduate of Morningside High School and prior to his retirement was employed as a truck driver with UPS. At an early age, he united with Philadelphia United Methodist Church and following his marriage, joined Shiloh AME Zion Church. He served on numerous committees, including the Men’s Choir, the Shiloneers Choir, as a Trustee, the Kitchen Committee and the Men’s Boosters. He was the former Preacher’s Steward for twenty-plus years. He had a love for outdoors and he cut lawns, and bush hauling. He was associated with Rutledge & Bigham Funeral Home for several years and at one time was a member of the Ebony Circle and was a member of the Brotherhood Car Club.
In addition to his wife, Helen Wineska Morrison of the home, he is survived by two sons, Jeffery Daniels and Patrick Mauney; four daughters, Ingrid (Darren) Wilfong, Porscha (Larry) Morrison-Pledger, Arianna Parks and Irianna Parks; one brother, Lee Allen (Elaine) Woods; a brother-in-law, Albert (Shelia) Gaines; a sister-in-law, Barbara Morrison; aunts and uncles, Bertha Hamilton, Gladys St. Fort, Joseph (Patricia) Mauney, and John Scott; fifteen grandchildren, Patrick Justine Mauney, Alec Cassell, Chantala Sharpe, Aquevious Johnson, Shakira Tucker, Jada Walker, Nen’zell Tessman, Ja’Dakiss Ja’Wade Morrison, Austin Ti’Kim Morrison, Treasure Ti’liyah Morrison, Zackery Daniels Torean Phillips, Calvin Brice and Kaelyn Phillips; great grandchildren, Jalaya Morrison, Davion Mauney, Patrick Justine Mauney, Arianna Mauney, Makyla Mauney, Payton Sharpe, Ijuana Johnson, Quay, Maddison Phillips and Maddox Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Shiloh AME Zion Family, and a host of friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Shiloh AME Zion Church. Reverend J. Ruth Davis, Pastor will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
Mr. Morrison will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church at 12 noon to lie in state.
