Richard “Dick” Philip Brooks, 79, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Dick was born May 9, 1940, in Port Huron, Mich., and was the son of the late Alexander Brooks and Helen Fogal Brooks. He was a graduate of Port Huron schools and was married to the late Sandra Lynn Brooks, who passed away, September 22, 2013.

Dick was retired from Curtis Screw Co. and was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. He loved camping, woodworking and playing the guitar and banjo.

He is survived by one daughter, Christina Brooks of Fort Mill, S.C.; one son, Richard Brooks II (Jeanne) of Winfield, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Heather Rogers, Ryan Magee, Randall Magee, Maegan Harrison, Amanda Doss, Joshua Brooks and Rochelle Watson; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn Boroski of Michigan and Dana Heath of Canada.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Broad Street United Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends following the service in Memorial Hall.
