He attended Job Core and at an early age he attended Zion Wesley AME Zion Church. He later attended Covenant Christian Center and was a loving person, always wanting to help everyone. He would always ask, “Do you have any bread (money)?" because he wanted to make sure you had some. He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his siblings, William Ike (Joanne) Thomas of Charlotte, Steven "Keith" (Barbara) Thomas of Bradenton, Fla., Carrie "Keita" (Larry) Gabriel of Statesville, Harold "Leon" (Jane) Thomas of Wilmington, Charles (Wendy) Thomas of Sherrills Ford, and Manasseh "Nasseh" Thomas and Andrew "Jim" Thomas, both of Troutman; three aunts, Emma Jean Morrison Huggins and Myrle Thomas, both of Statesville, and Mildred Thomas of Winston-Salem; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In tears we saw you sinking,
and watched you fade away
Our hearts were almost broken,
because we wanted you to stay
But when we saw you sleeping,
so peacefully and free from pain
How could we wish you back with us,
to suffer that again
It breaks our hearts to lose you,
but you do not go alone
For part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
