Mrs. Louise Taylor Gaines, 92, of 105 Brookmead Drive, Statesville, N.C., departed this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Wilcox County on May 7, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Richard Taylor and Catherine Taylor. She was married to Eliger Gaines, who also preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin Gaines, and a daughter-in-law, Luella Gaines.

Mrs. Gaines was a graduate of American School in Chicago, Ill., and she attended Highland Acres Church of Christ in Statesville, where she was the Gold Star Mother. She was the owner of a Florist Shop in Statesville for many years. Mrs. Gaines will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish the memories of her life four sons, Robert Steve (Faye) Gaines of Statesville, Sanford Gaines and Willie (Ann) Gaines, both of Pensocola, Fla., and Tyrone Gaines of Raleigh, N.C.; three daughters, Pamela (Raymond) Smith of Statesville, Diana (Robert) Dukes of Pensocola, and Kathy Gaines, of Raleigh; stepdaughter, Betty Mattox; two daughters-in-law, Sandra Gaines and Barbara Allison, both of Statesville; as well as her grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Louise Taylor Gaines will be conducted on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Highland Acreas Church of Christ in Statesville at 12 noon. Brother Al Simmons will officiate. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends from 11:30 until noon. They will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Pamela Smith, 105 Brookmead Drive, Statesville at all other times.
