Mrs. Lillie Wyatt Malloy Brown, 83, of 114 Midglen Court, Mooresville, N.C., was born in Portsmouth, Va., on November 21, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Malloy Sr. and Rachel Wilson. She passed away at Novant Health in Salisbury on Monday, May 13, 2019.

She was a high school graduate and received three degrees, an Associate in Applied Science, an Associate in Fine Arts – Art and an Associate in General Education. At one time she was employed by the State of New Jersey as a healthcare provider. Her love for art, drawing and writing was evident and she was a creative person. She enjoyed cooking and at one time owned her own restaurant, Lillie’s Country Kitchen, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey.

She was united in marriage on June 22, 1953, to James Cleveland Brown Sr. for over sixty-five years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Timothy P. Brown; her grandson, Michael J. Brown; and her siblings.

Left to remember and cherish the blessing of her life, in addition to her husband James Brown of the home, are one son, James Cleveland Brown Jr. of Mooresville; two daughters, Jewell Diane Brown of Mooresville and Melva Shenise Metoyer of Alexandria, La.; one daughter-in-law, Marie Brown of Willingboro, N.J.; three brothers, Joseph “Joe” (Katherine) Malloy of Virginia Beach, Va., Mark (Stacey) Malloy of Clinton, Md., and William “Bill” Malloy of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Althea (John) Allen of Virginia Beach, Va; her grandchildren, Faye Brown, Amanda Brown, Megan Brown, Brandon Wilson, James Brown, Joshua Brown, Nicole Tademy and Tiann Brown; a host of great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Carla Parker of Portsmouth, Va.; a cousin, Barbara Freeman of Philadelphia, Pa.; special friends, Eric (Jeanette) Johnson of Mt. Holly, N.J., and Deborah Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Cornelius Road, Mooresville. Mrs. Brown will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 10:30 a.m., but will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery in Salisbury at 2 p.m.
