Mrs. Heather Elizabeth Sigmon Freeze, 32, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at the Gordon Hospice House surrounded by family. Her death was caused from a rare chronic decease called Arachnoiditis and other complications.

Mrs. Freeze was born in Iredell County on July 11, 1986, and was the daughter of Glenn Ray Sigmon and Teresa Kay Jenkins Sigmon. She was a graduate of West Iredell High School and received her associate degree in nursing from Mitchell Community College, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

On March 13, 2010, she married Robert Allen Freeze. Allen, the love of Heather's life, went home to be with the Lord in December of 2011 and now Heather is with him throughout eternity.

Heather was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church. Prior to her disability, she worked as a registered nurse with Iredell Memorial Hospital. She worked as a Telemetry Nurse, and also worked in ICU and emergency room. She also worked at Lake Breeze ENT and Allergy and Cornerstone Asthma & Allergy Associates.

Lane was born in September of 2011 to Allen and Heather Freeze. He is a beautiful boy who will carry on and honor the legacy of his parents. He is the spitting image of his daddy and has the loving big heart of his mother. He will miss his parents dearly.

In addition to her husband, Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Albert Jenkins, and paternal grandparents, Clyde Sigmon Sr. and Emma Marie Sigmon.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Lane Allen Freeze; her parents, Glenn and Teresa Sigmon; sister Amanda S. Fisher (Joshua); grandmother Lucille Jenkins; and a nephews Greyson and Garrett Fisher, all of Statesville. She is also survived by Chad Anderson, who has been a loving and caring true friend to Heather.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Heather Freeze will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Mountain Road Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Bowman and Rev. Justin Woolledge officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband immediately following in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

The family would like to thank Brandi Harris (RN) and Tracy (CNA) with Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for their compassionate and loving heart and always being an advocate for Heather in her final months, weeks and days; Dr. Charles Frankhouser for his compassion and medical care; and all of the nursing staff at the Gordon Hospice House for all the care and support because times like these are never easy but having caring and compassionate people to take care of your loved ones make it seem a little more bearable.
