FROM STAFF REPORTS
Iredell County Sheriff's Office narcotics investigators arrested three suspects and seized 15 pounds of marijuana, nearly $5,000 and a loaded handgun from a home on Happy Acres Drive in Statesville as part of an ongoing investigation into trafficking of high-grade marijuana.
Information provided to an ICSO School Resource Officer about a former student being involved with transporting and selling marijuana was crucial to the investigation, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.
This information was passed along to a narcotics investigator. Investigators verified the suspect’s residence at 115 Happy Acres Drive and received additional information from the Statesville Police Department about drug activity at that address, Campbell said.
Based on information received about a package delivery to the residence, ICSO investigators obtained an anticipatory search warrant for the residence.
After a package was delivered by a delivery company and received by a male at the home, ICSO and SPD narcotics investigators executed the search warrant and located three males in the home, according to the news release.
After securing the suspect, a search of the residence located 15 pounds of vacuumed-sealed marijuana, numerous items of drug paraphernalia used to package and weigh marijuana, $4,880 in cash and a loaded .45-caliber handgun, Campbell said.
