SPD: Suspect charged in 2015 homicide

A suspect in the August 2015 shooting death of a Statesville man was arrested Friday afternoon following an investigation by the Statesville Police Department's Violent Crime Unit.
A member of the Violent Crime Unit, Cpl. P.C. Wolfe, was tasked in January with re-evaluating evidence and re-interviewing potential witnesses in the August 30, 2015, in the shooting death of Leon Tremaine Bradshaw, according to an SPD news release.
Bradshaw died at Iredell Memorial Hospital after being shot in the chest while he was at a residence at 1014 Wilmington Avenue, police said. Bradshaw's brother, Deleon Carshaw Dalton, was also shot in the legs during the incident, according to the news release.
Although it was reported that numerous people were present at the home at the time of the shooting, no arrests were made in the months after the shooting, police said.
On Friday morning members of the Violent Crime Unit met with SPD Chief David Addison, Assistant Chief David Onley and Assistant District Attorney Mikko Red Arrow to review evidence in the cold case investigation.
Investigators obtained a warrant charging Okiera Donnell Myers, 35, with murder in connection with the shooting death of Leon Bradshaw. Myers was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
At approximately 12:25 p.m. on Friday, members of the Violent Crime Unit stopped a vehicle at the intersection of South Race Street and West Front Street.
Myers, who was identified as the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody without incident and taken before Magistrate Imes, who ordered Myers be held in the Iredell County Jail without bond.
