SPD searching for suspect in incident at Brookwood Inn

Violent Crimes Collaborative investigators have obtained arrest warrants for a suspect in connection with an incident in which shots were fired at the Brookwood Inn, located at 1505 East Broad Street, on September 22, according to a Statesville Police Department news release.
James Lamar Wallington, 39, of Georgia, is wanted for possession of a firearm by felon and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
Wallington is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7 and 165 pounds. He has family in Statesville and may still be in the area, possibly driving a black Lexus, police said.

Suspect arrested in connection with larceny at Dollar General
A suspect was arrested in connection with a recent theft from the Dollar General store on Shelton Avenue, according to an SPD news release.
Statesville telecommunications personnel received a call from the store just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 27. The caller reported that a white male suspect stole cell phones by removing the security devices. He fled from the business, leaving in a silver Nissan, police said.
SPD officers located the vehicle on West Raleigh Avenue a short time later and found the suspect hiding in the woods nearby. Rex Locke, 38, of Carolwoods Drive, Mooresville, was arrested and charged with felony larceny from a merchant. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond.
