SPD: Man faces drug charges after vehicle search yields pound of marijuana

A 27-year-old man faces felony drug charges after a Statesville police officer found more than a pound of marijuana and items associated with the sale of drugs in his vehicle following a traffic stop.
According to an SPD news release, Saquan Oneal Sharpe was stopped for an expired registration while driving a gold Lincoln Towncar on North Center Street about 3:30 p.m. on March 7.
During a search of the vehicle, the officer located several glass jars containing approximately 522 grams of marijuana, police said.
Sharpe was taken into custody and transported to the Statesville Police Department for processing. He was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, misdemeanor maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for the use/storage/sale of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
He was taken before Magistrate Chambers at the Iredell County Jail, where he was issued a $20,000 secured bond.
