Sheriff's Office asking for public's help in theft investigation
FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a tow truck stolen from a local business and asking the public to help solve the case.
On Monday, January 7, the ICSO received a report of a larceny of vehicle from Castillo Auto Sales, located at 108 Jane Sowers Road near Statesville.
Detective Sgt. Derek Getz with the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned the case.
According to the incident report, someone gained entry into a 2004 Ford F-450 Tow Truck around 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 6. According to the owner of the business, the tow truck was locked and he is still in possession of the keys to the truck, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.
The suspect stayed in the vehicle for several minutes before driving out of the parking lot and turning right onto Jane Sowers Road, Campbell said. The vehicle then entered the rear parking lot of the shopping complex located at 608 Turnersburg Highway.
A blue-four door BMW was seen in the parking lot minutes before the tow truck was stolen and appeared to be waiting in the area until after the truck was stolen, the sheriff said.
The ICSO is asking anyone who has information regarding the larceny of the vehicle to please contact the Iredell/Statesville Crime Stoppers at (704) 662-1340. You can also contact Detective Sgt. Getz at (704) 878-3180.
