Sheriff: Woman set up robbery victim
FROM STAFF REPORTS
A Harmony woman was arrested and charged with armed robbery after Iredell County Sheriff's Office investigators determined she set up a man to be robbed on Starlight Road last weekend.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Summer Dawn Scott, 29, in a news release on Friday.
Her arrest stems from an ICSO investigation that began on Sunday, February 3, after deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery off Starlight Road near Amity Hill Road, Campbell said.
Deputies arrived on the scene to find a man parked on the side of Starlight Road, according to the news release. The victim told deputies that he had arranged to meet Scott there.
Once the man arrived at that location, Scott got in his vehicle and directed him where to park, Campbell said. Soon after he parked the vehicle, two men ran up to the vehicle, broke out the side window and assaulted him at gunpoint, according to the news release.
The two men reportedly stole money and other items from the man. Scott left the scene before the deputies arrived.
Detective Sgt. Wesley Gregory with the Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene to conduct the investigation.
During the course of the investigation, Gregory obtained evidence indicating that Scott set up the victim to be robbed, Campbell said.
Scott was located and arrested on Tuesday, February 5. She was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor injury to personal property. Magistrate Watkins issued Scott an $80,000 bond.
This investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are expected in this case, Campbell said.
