Sheriff: Mooresville man faces multiple child pornography charges
FROM STAFF REPORTS
A Mooresville man faces five felony charges following a child pornography investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Bradley Jay Pitts, 19, of Mooresville in a news release Tuesday morning.
The ICSO began investigating in October of 2019 when Dropbox, an online cloud storage service, reported that several images and videos of possible child pornography were being uploaded to the company's servers, Campbell said.
Dropbox captured the information attached to the account along with IP addresses, account name and email address and provided the information to the ICSO and the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The physical address for the Dropbox account was determined to be 614 Spruce Street, Mooresville, Campbell said.
Sgt. Jason Lowrance of the ICSO Special Victims Unit reviewed the evidence and obtained a search warrant for the Dropbox account to obtain more information. Lowrance then went to the residence at 614 Spruce Street, where he located Pitts.
After speaking with Pitts and obtaining evidence during the investigation, Lowrance obtained arrest warrants for Pitts for five counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Pitts was arrested on Friday March 8. Magistrate Chambers issued Pitts a $30,000 bond.
