Sheriff: Deputies seize weapon, drugs during traffic stop on I-77

A South Carolina man was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond this week after an Iredell County Sheriff's Office deputy found marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 77.
On Monday, June 3, ICSO deputies assigned to the Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team stopped a Kia Optima for traffic violations Interstate 77 North near the 63 mile marker, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.
During the course of the traffic stop, an ICSO K-9 performed a free air sniff of the car and indicated positive for the presence and odor of a narcotic in the car, Campbell said.
Deputies then searched the vehicle and uncovered 714.3 grams of marijuana in several different forms, including liquid THC, gummy candies and marijuana buds, according to the news release.
The search also yielded a vacuum packaging device, a .223-caliber rifle and three fully loaded magazines for the rifle, a hooded mask, gloves, and other head coverings throughout the vehicle, Campbell said.
Cameron Austin Turner, 26, of Summerville, S.C., was transported him to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Felony Maintain a Vehicle, Dwelling or Place for controlled substance
ICSO detectives are continuing their investigation and additional charges may be filed, Campbell said.
