FROM STAFF REPORTS
Installation of a new scoreboard at Jennings Park was recently completed. North Piedmont Babe Ruth League donated the scoreboard to the Iredell County Parks & Recreation Department.
North Piedmont Babe Ruth previously donated two other scoreboards, installed last year on fields 1 & 3 at Jennings Park.
“We heard so many compliments that we wanted to provide another scoreboard for field 4”, said Wayne Harwell, President of North Piedmont Babe Ruth.
The first comment about the new scoreboard was from a child warming up on the field, saying, “Wow we have a scoreboard! That’s so cool!”
The scoreboards will continue to help enhance the experience for all participants and fans visiting Jennings Park.
North Piedmont Babe Ruth League made the original donation of the former Sertoma Park property to Iredell County Parks & Recreation Department in November 2016.
Since then Iredell County has conducted public input meetings, surveys, and created a Site Specific Master Plan to develop the facility, which includes additional park amenities.
A Ropes Challenge Course has been constructed at the facility, and future plans include a redesign of the baseball complex, soccer fields, playgrounds, walking trails, pickle ball courts and more.
Throughout the planning process, North Piedmont Babe Ruth has continued to provide contributions, including donation of infield dirt, overseeding of outfields, three new scoreboards, and field maintenance support.
Iredell County Parks & Recreation Department appreciates the partnership with North Piedmont Babe Ruth to provide a fun and safe baseball program for the children of Iredell County.
