Mitchell Community College Foundation and Endowment for Excellence recently received a $13,000 donation from the Mitchell Alumni Association for the establishment of an endowed, need-based scholarship fund.

On July 9, 2019 the Alumni Association voted to establish an endowed scholarship using $13,000 of the funds they have raised throughout the years. The Alumni Office is providing an additional $2,000 for a total of $15,000. Together, they hope to raise an additional $10,000 to bring the total of the Alumni Association endowed scholarship to $25,000. The Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship will be awarded annually and provide much needed assistance for current Mitchell students.

The Alumni Association has a long history of commitment to the college, Mitchell alumni and current students. As alumni, the Association members know first-hand the impact that Mitchell has on the lives of students and our community. The purpose of the Association is “to keep alive in the hearts and minds the emblem of Mitchell Community College. To uphold Mitchell Community College, to administer to her needs, to keep in mind the debt that we owe to Mitchell Community College, and to stand ready at all times to offer assistance as needed in moral, spiritual, and material ways.” The Association has donated funds each year towards scholarship support. Now the Alumni Association will ensure this support of current students continues in perpetuity.

Every year, donors provide critical support for Mitchell students through gifts to scholarships and financial aid. For more information about contributing to the Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship or supporting Foundation efforts, visit mitchellcc.edu/giving or call (704) 878-4362.
