The Iredell County Partnership for Young Children will host an open enrollment event for the N.C. Pre-Kindergarten program on Tuesday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ICPYC office at 734 Salisbury Road in Statesville.

Staff will be available to guide families through the application process, answer questions, and assist families needing translation services to complete the application.

It is recommended that families bring the following documentation:
► Child’s birthdate verification
► Child’s immunization record
► Income verification (pay stubs, tax forms or W-2’s)
► If not parent, documentation of legal custody or legal guardianship

The Partnership will make copies of the documents at no cost to the families. The free N.C. Pre-Kindergarten program has classrooms located in Statesville and Mooresville. Call Kim at 704-878-2950 for additional information or a listing of available classrooms.

The N.C. Pre-Kindergarten Program is a free, high-quality program designed to enhance school readiness for eligible four-year-old children. Children must turn four by August 31, 2019, in order to enroll.

The program is built on the National Education Goals Panel’s premise that to be successful academically in school, children need to be prepared in all five of the developmental domains that are critical to children’s overall well-being and success in reading and math as they enter school.

N.C. licensed teachers provide developmentally appropriate play-based instruction to help children strengthen and learn a variety of skills. Studies reveal that students who participate in a high-quality pre-kindergarten program are more likely to succeed in grades K-12 and throughout their lives.
