CHARLOTTE – Customers who have traveled on the new Interstate 77 express lanes without using an NC Quick Pass or other compatible transponder should pay their bill by the due date to avoid late fees.

Many customers have received their first invoices in the mail since the northern section of the I-77 express lanes opened June 1.

“During the month of June, nearly 170,000 new Bill by Mail customers were added to the NC Quick Pass program,” said N.C. Turnpike Authority Executive Director J.J. Eden. “With a new transportation option in the Charlotte area with many first-time users, we encourage any customer to pay their invoice before the due date. If they have questions, they can give us a call or stop by a customer service center.”

Customers should be on the lookout for invoices, which are mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. While the invoice may only be a few dollars, state-mandated late fees will be assessed for bills not paid by the due date.

NC Quick Pass is the Turnpike Authority's toll collection program. It is used for the I-77 express lanes, the Monroe Expressway and the Triangle Expressway. While the I-77 express lanes are operated by a private company, the Turnpike Authority’s role is to provide account management, billing and customer service, providing one entity for all tolling customer service in North Carolina.
