The Statesville Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and Statesville Planning Board are seeking interested residents to serve on these important boards.
For the HPC, volunteers who reside within the territorial jurisdiction of Statesville and have expertise and special interest in history, architecture, archeology and related fields are encouraged to submit an application.
The HPC consists of nine members whose mission is to identify, preserve and protect Statesville’s historic resources. The commission also works to educate the public about these historic resources and historic preservation in general.
Members of the HPC are appointed by the City Council to serve a three-year term. The HPC meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
The Planning Board reviews and makes recommendations on planning policies, ordinances and procedures; advises the City Council on the means for carrying out these plans; considers zoning ordinance text changes and changes in the zoning designation of properties; and reviews major development proposals and major subdivisions of property.
Planning Board members are appointed for a three-year term. It meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in City Hall in the City Council chambers.
