FROM STAFF REPORTS
Choosing healthy food and snacks is a struggle for many children across the nation.
At Troutman Elementary School, the school nutrition staff is always looking for creative ways to introduce fruits and vegetables into the lives of their students.
According to Cafeteria Manager Sharron Saunders, schools across the nation are trying out a taste test to encourage students to try healthy foods.
Troutman’s school nutrition staff recently teamed up with the Fuel Up to Play 60 Leadership team to introduce strawberry banana smoothies to students by conducting a taste test at the school.
The Fuel Up to Play 60 Leadership Team worked in shifts during lunches to hand out samples and conducted a survey to see if students liked the smoothies.
“The survey concluded that the strawberry banana smoothies were a big hit, passing with flying colors. Look for strawberry banana smoothies to be on the menu,” Saunders said.
