Special to

Theatre Statesville is excited to bring to the stage one of Shakespeare’s best, A Midsummer Night's Dream, in the meadow behind The Historic Sharpe House.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a delightful fairy tale. The story centers around the marriage of the Duke of Athens and the former Queen of the Amazons. It is the age-old story of wanting what you cannot have, but in this version all ends well with the help of mischievous fairies in a mismatched tangle of lovers. Ambition knows no bounds when magic in involved.

You will have a front row seat in the forest to see how the fairies manipulate the cast of characters as we pay homage to this special venue. This is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved works and is guaranteed to bring some smiles.

The show is being directed by Adrienne Shea, who is very enthusiastic about this new endeavor.

"This is a new and exciting venue for Theatre Statesville and I am exhilarated to be a part of this first run of what I hope will be a long-lived new adventure!” Shea said.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. on June 21-23 and June 28-30.

Note: Enter the performance area from The Pasture House, located at 409 S. Meeting Street, Statesville.
