FROM STAFF REPORTS

Theatre Arts students at Statesville High School will present a one-act play on Thursday evening that explores the consequences of drug use among young people.

Addict will be performed at 7 p.m. in Mac Gray Auditorium.

Instructor Stephanie Deal cautions that it is a challenging play for mature audiences.

"The playwright decided to tell several complete stories, including the beginnings of use and the dreaded consequences, which are always left out of the 'street' version," Deal said in a news release. "Addict is not only a play but a part of an outreach."

She's proud of the work the students have put into the production.

"Their hearts and vulnerability are shining bright, and on the line," she explained, "so let's support them!"
