Statesville Woman's Club welcomes SIHS JROTC for patriotic-themed dinner

The GFWC of NC Statesville Woman’s Club's recent patriotic-themed barbecue dinner included a special presentation of Colors by the South Iredell High School Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard.
The SIHS MCJROTC Color Guard included Cadet 1st Lt. Michael French, Cadet Sgt. Major Dale Thompson, Cadet Maj. Dillion Burgoyne and Cadet 2nd Lt. Madison Parker. After opening the meeting with the presentation of colors SIHS MCJROTC Senior Marine Instructor Lt. Col. Curt Rogers led the Pledge of Allegiance. Club Chaplain Beth Webb shared an inspirational reading about Memorial Day.
Items collected to donate to the USO of North Carolina included non-perishable items, personal care items, children’s books, games, cleaning supplies, etc. Profits from the dinner were also donated to benefit the USO.
Club Education Community Service Program Co-Chairmen Jennifer Griffith and Barb Thorson presented a donation for the Elementary Battle of the Books to David Edwards with Iredell-Statesville Schools.
Second Vice President Dana White gave a report from the 117th GFWC of North Carolina Convention in Wilmington. The club received Silver for excellent work for Federation Day and Home Life CSP General Overall. The club was also recognized on the Roll of Honor Clubs.
