"Wish You Were Hare"
Newest permanent addition to Statesville Sculpture Garden to be unveiled Friday

The newest permanent sculpture, “Wish You Were Hare,” will be unveiled in the Statesville Sculpture Garden during the Fall Art Crawl on Friday evening. Also featured in the garden will be several new temporary pieces which are available for purchase.
Located on the corner of North Center and Water streets, the Sculpture Garden has earned the reputation of being a showplace for high quality sculpture in this region.
“Wish You Were Hare” was created by Burnsville artist Josh Cote’. It is a large woven wire sculpture using recycled materials.
The temporary pieces include: “Blue Tower” by Adam Walls of Hope Mills, N.C.; “November Leaves” by Bob Doster of Lancaster, S.C.; “Goddess of Golden Light” by Theresa Arico of Chapel Hill; and “Blue Cadence” by Joseph Sands of Randleman, N.C.
The Sculpture Garden is overseen by a sub-committee of the Community Appearance Commission (Sculpture Statesville!), which is responsible for soliciting art for the garden and assisting in the marketing of the pieces available for sale. The Downtown Statesville Art Crawl is open to the public at no charge, featuring more than 50 artists in over 30 different galleries and venues. Also special to this year’s event is the availability of a trolley to take you to the various locations. There is no charge to ride the trolley which can be boarded at Griffin Insurance Agency, located at 139 East Broad Street The Art Crawl takes place from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.
