The Iredell County Public Library released the following schedule of events for its Statesville, Troutman and Harmony branches:

Statesville Library

Adult Sensory Networking. Monday, March 4, 1 - 2 p.m.

Our outreach specialists offer interactive sensory programming at the library for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Join us as we participate in crafts, games, and get to know others in this friendly and safe environment. For more information and registration, contact Holly Grimwood at or call 704-928-2406. Maker Monday: Allison Woods: Earth, Rocks and Fossils. March 4, 4 - 5 p.m.

In this engaging program, students will become amateur geologists and investigate, learn to identify and classify several different types of rocks and soils, the earth, and the rocks and minerals it’s made of. Students will learn about trace fossils, petrified wood, different types of rocks (igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary) and what they are made of, how they are formed, plate tectonics, and more. Examples will include gemstones, shark's teeth, composite fossils, as well as other fossilized skeletal structures.

Iredell Writers Group. Tuesday, March 5, 11 a.m. - 12 noon

Interested in writing? Local Author Billie-Fae Gill leads writers group at the library for both beginners and published writers. New members are always welcome! Refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library.

Financial Literacy with Myles Coleman. Tuesday, March 12, 6 - 7 p.m.

Myles Coleman will be presenting program on the current financial market and how it might effect our future. He will be discussing how the market has changed over the last several months, whether we may be approaching a recession and general information about national and global markets.

Star Lab Planetarium. Thursday, March 14, 5 - 8 p.m.

Join us as we explore the solar system with our very special mobile planetarium.

A Beautiful Broken Dream: Live Music. Saturday, March 16, 3 - 5 p.m.

British author, songwriter, and award winning psychologist Steve Bonham is coming to America! Creator of over ten albums, two musicals, and several books, Steve is bringing his perspectives and guitar to America to present a joint concert with North Carolina songwriter Rob McHale.

STEAM with Iredell Museum. March 15 & 29, 4 - 5 p.m.

Every other Friday join Ms. Hadley Mason at the library for "Hadley's Steam Session." See what you can learn and create!

Harmony Library

Dr. Seuss Craft. Monday, March 4, 4 - 5 p.m.

Did you know that Dr. Seuss' birthday is this month? Help us celebrate by making a Dr. Seuss mask craft!

Mardi Gras Party. March 5, 5 - 6 p.m.

Celebrate Mardi Gras with us! Enjoy Mardi Gras themed snacks and crafts.

I-CARE. March 13 & 27, 3 - 4:30 p.m.

I-CARE is a Community Action Agency that will be at the Harmony Library to assist individuals in crisis. I-CARE strives to deliver high quality initiatives that allow access to jobs, housing, education, and childcare. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Adult Pinterest Craft Club: Teacup Centerpieces. Tuesday, March 12, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Join us in creating beautiful one-of-a-kind centerpieces using teacups and flowers. Registration is required. Call 704.546.7086 to reserve your place starting March 1.

Pot of Gold Kids Craft. Saturday, March 16, 3 - 4 p.m.

Create your own pot of gold using green and black construction paper, glue, and Corn Pops.

Troutman Library

Homework Help. Thursdays from 4 - 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 3 - 5 p.m. Does your child need tutoring in difficult subjects? Our teen volunteers are here to help offering a wide range of assistance for grades K-8. Call the library to reserve your 30-minute session.For more information, call (704) 528-2682. Book Warriors: A Night Divided. Tuesday, March 12, at 4 p.m. Read this book about Soviet occupied Germany and the wall that divided a nation. Come discuss it with us via an interactive trivia game and enjoy some pizza.  For more information, call (704) 528-2682. 

Themes & Treats Book Club: Historical Fiction. Wednesday, March 13, at 5:30 p.m. Step back in time and enter our world during a different period. Enjoy discussion, coffee, and snacks provided by Troutman Friends of the Library.

Rustic Craft Corner: Burlap Banners. Thursday, March 14, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Everyone loves burlap and here's your chance to make adorable St. Patty's Day banners using burlap and other rustic crafts. Registration is required so please sign up at the front desk or call us at 704-528-2682.

Maker Monday: Binary Code Jewelry. Monday, March 18, at 4 p.m.

Learn the language of computers and create jewelry with your name in binary code.

Vegetable Gardening with NC Cooperative Extension. Tuesday, March 26, at 5:30 p.m.

Join the Iredell County office of the NC Cooperative Extension to learn all you need to know about vegetable gardening and sustainable living. A variety of topics will be discussed along with a Q&A session.
