The Iredell Arts Council will host an opening reception for Danny Malboeuf's exhibit entitled “The Atrocities Show" on Thursday, March 7.
The exhibit consists of mostly acrylic works by Malboeuf, a self-taught visual artist and musician from Statesville.
While literature and music are largely responsible for Malboeuf’s greatest inspirations, it’s imagination that uniquely defines his work.
“Imagination has to be taken to the point where it can function independently of rational thought,” says Malboeuf.
“Whatever is conjured by the impressions of music or any other influence, can undergo radical change before a piece is finished. I never know how it will end. It would be pointless if I did.”
The opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Works will be available for purchase.
“The Atrocities Show” will run at the Iredell County Arts Council at 203 S. Meeting Street from March 7-28.
