Special to SVLfreenews.com
ElderCenter Adult Day Care will host a “Cruise-in Antique Show” to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s, dementia and other brain related issues on Monday, June 24, from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. in the ElderCenter parking lot at 502 Brevard Street, Statesville.
The event is free and open to the public. If you have a car to show and would like to join us, call 704-873-0720.
Melissa Cleary, ElderCenter’s activities coordinator, started this yearly event in honor of Father’s Day to do something special for the men at ElderCenter.
“Our guys loved it last year! We had a nice variety of automobiles from various decades. Our ladies enjoyed it as well, posing with the vintage cars,” Cleary said. “This year we decided to make it part of Alzheimer’s Association’s Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month.
ElderCenter members attend daily for a variety of reasons, including memory issues like dementia and Alzheimer’s. The program is designed for each individual to maintain good mental activity and social connection.
ElderCenter offers a one-week free trial. The daily rate is very affordable and financial assistance may be available if qualified. Please contact Tammie Money at 704-873-0720 for details, visit ElderCenterAdultCare.org or email ElderCenterNC@gmail.com.
