Community breakfast to thank first responders set for Feb. 23
Special to SVLfreenews.com
Lee and Linda Halverson organize a Community Breakfast semi-annually as a thank you to local first responders and to benefit a charity close to their hearts, ElderCenter.
The first breakfast of the year will be on Saturday, February 23, from 7 to 10 a.m. at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, located at 106 Mt. Hermon Road, Statesville. These community breakfasts are by donation and feature sausage and gravy, homemade biscuits, and lots of bacon and eggs as well as a variety of other breakfast items.
“Come hungry!” exclaims Linda Halverson, who does most of the cooking and preparation along with other members of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. “Lee is a retired state trooper from Wisconsin, and we truly understand how much our first responders put into an often-thankless job, so breakfast is on us. Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church also sees this as an opportunity to welcome newcomers to the area and a way to get to know our neighbors. This event is open to the public. Please join us for an old-fashioned breakfast with all the trimmings.”
The Halversons are board members of ElderCenter.
The donations received will go to ElderCenter, a nonprofit community service helping families care for their loved ones. Caring for our elderly, especially those with memory impairments is a difficult responsibility for family and caregivers. ElderCenter offers an option to keep seniors at home longer by providing care during the day allowing family members to work or handle other responsibilities.
ElderCenter Adult Care program is offering one-week free trial. Our affordable rate is $40 a day. Financial assistance may be available if you qualify. To learn more, contact Tammie Money at 704-873-0720 for details or visit ElderCenterAdultCare.org
