Allison Woods Outdoor Learning Center to host falconry event on Saturday
Special to SVLfreenews.com
Join falconers from all over North Carolina on Saturday, November 17, as they celebrate World Falconry Day at Allison Woods Outdoor Learning Center.
Scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Allison Woods, this celebration is one of many that will take place on the anniversary of the designation of falconry as a cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
To help the public understand a little about falconry, falconers will gather at Allison Woods Outdoor Learning Center and talk to the public about falconry, display some of their birds and speak to you one-on-one about their passion for birds of prey, conservation and how the birds hunt with their falconers.
There will be activities for everyone to enjoy, including opportunities for artists, photographers, outdoor enthusiasts and children to see these magnificent birds up close.
You will have a chance to meet and talk to top officials, past and present from the North Carolina Falconers Guild and the North American Falconers Association, the world's largest membership falconry organization. Yes, they will have their birds with them!
If you are attending, please bring water or something to drink for yourself and your family! There is no food or drink service on site. Please remember this is an outdoor event so dress for the weather.
