26th Annual Art in Bloom set for April 4
Special to SVLfreenews.com
Statesville native and author Marie Land Avery Mickey will be the featured speaker at the 26th Annual Art in Bloom Fundraiser and Luncheon on April 4 at the Statesville Civic Center.
Following a distinguished career in marketing, sales management and sales communications, Mkey published a memoir that recalls growing up in the 1940s South and reflects on the experiences of childhood that shaped her life. With her unique blend of nostalgia and wit, she will share from those experiences and memories with the Art in Bloom audience.
“We are so excited to welcome Marie as this year’s Art in Bloom speaker,” said Iredell Museums Board President Amy Lawton. “Art in Bloom is always such a special event, and raises much-needed funding for our museum and afterschool outreach programs.”
In addition to Mickey’s presentation, Art in Bloom will also feature the presentation of the Keeper of the Culture Award, which will be awarded to Statesville’s Henry Steele for his many contributions to the arts community.
In addition, items from the Museum’s permanent collection will be on display during the event.
Other attractions innclude Mattie’s Mimosa Bar, the Gourmet-to-Go Bake Sale, Johnson Greenhouses’ Gift Shop, and a silent auction. Lunch will be provided by Kirk’s Catering.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 10 a.m.
All proceeds for Art in Bloom support Iredell Museums. Tickets are $40, and are available from Art In Bloom committee members, at the museum and by visiting iredellmuseums.org
