Dr. Margot Wacks has joined the medical staff at Piedmont HealthCare's Women’s Center in Statesville.
A graduate of Stetson University in Deland, Fla., she earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. According to The American Osteopathic Association, doctors of osteopathic medicine believe “there’s more to good health than the absence of pain or disease.”
Although MDs and DOs are both fully licensed physicians, the primary differences are that DOs undergo additional training to learn manipulation techniques of the musculoskeletal system and focus on understanding how lifestyle and environmental factors impact a patient’s wellbeing.
The staff at PHC Women’s Center is excited to bring on Dr. Wacks as its first DO physician and anticipate that she will be a great benefit to the practice.
Dr. Wacks is DaVinci trained and certified. DaVinci is a minimally invasive robot that can be utilized for female gynecologic surgeries such as benign hysterectomies and surgeries for endometriosis.
