Cardiology

Cardiology is the field of medicine related to diseases and disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Some of the most common conditions treated include coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure. Symptoms that indicated an abnormal heart condition include: shortness of breath, chest pains, or dizzy spells.

Piedmont HealthCare Cardiologists are heart specialists involved in the treatment of heart attacks, heart failure and serious heart rhythm disturbances. We review your medical history and perform physical examinations to monitor your blood pressure, weight, heart, lungs and blood vessels. Some of the more common procedures we perform include: cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty and when necessary, heart surgery.

Rheumatology

Rheumatology is a subspecialty of internal and pediatric medicine that is concerned with prevention, detection and treatment of disorders of the joints, muscles and bones. Rheumatologists manage patients with arthritis, a group of more than 100 different diseases that may cause pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones, as well as osteoarthritis (resulting from wear and tear) and rheumatoid arthritis (caused by immune system problems).

Rheumatologists aims to help patients with rheumatic disease to have the best possible quality of life. Piedmont HealthCare physicians treat clinical problems in the joints, soft tissues, heritable connective tissue disorders, vasculitis and autoimmune diseases and rely on close relationships with other medical specialties.
