Smart devices are being used to help make patient care more efficient and accessible at Davis Regional Medical Center.
Patients who have received care at Davis Medical Regional Hospital or at any Davis Medical Group clinic can now access their Health Records on their iPhone through the Health app. This technological step brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose.
Patients can use their iPhones to securely receive and store important details from their medical records, including allergies, conditions, immunizations, labs, medications, procedures and vitals. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID. For more information on Health Records, visit: https://www.apple.com/healthcare/health-records/
“We are working to provide patients with more convenience, more information and more control over their healthcare experiences,” said Gina Parker, acting Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Davis Regional Medical Center. “This tool makes it easier to view and track your personal medical information. If accessing your health information is easier, we believe that patients will be more active in managing their health, which will result in better outcomes.”
In addition, smart devices are being deployed across the hospital to track and document healthcare at the bedside. Patients will see staff use small, hand-held smart devices to document their care, track the administration of medication, communicate with physicians and more.
“The utilization of these smart devices ensures that we are tracking and updating a patient’s health record in real-time, which can result in more efficient care,” Parker explained. “These new technologies for patients and providers will help to bring together the hospital, clinics and patients with improved access to healthcare data, ensuring high quality care.”
