With a backgroundin fashion design and merchandising, Lindsay Hester has been planning to open a boutique for more than a decade.
Last week the owner of Hitched Boutique received a red carpet welcome as her new shop opened in Downtown Statesville. The boutique specializes in affordable wedding and prom dresses.
“You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a beautiful dress,” she said. “I want to connect brides with the dress of their dreams.”
Back when Hester was married in 2013, she wore lace.
“Lace is still very popular,” she said. “Now the Bohemian, flowing styles are also popular, but we offer traditional gowns also.”
Hester, who is from Taylorsville, decided on the name Hitched after considering several ideas.
“I wanted something to the point and short,” she said. “We’re from the South and it’s very Southern.”
Sheila Pennell is excited about her daughter’s new endeavour.
“It’s been her life-long dream,” she said.
Marin Tomlin, executive director of the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation, said the boutique is a welcome addition to downtown.
“We are thrilled that Lindsay chose Downtown Statesville to open Hitched Boutique,” she said. “Her shop fills a definite need in our area and fits perfectly with our unique mix of specialty shops. Her selection of bridal and prom gowns is spectacular, and the renovations she made to the shop have created a fun and relaxed environment for customers.”
Hitched Boutique is located at 107 East Broad Street in Statesville.
It’s open on Tuesdays from 12 to 5 p.m., Wednesday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (By appointment only). For more information, call 980-635-1862.
