The J. Hoyt Hayes Memorial Troutman Library has a full slate of entertaining activities and crafty fun for all ages on tap in November:

The Troutman Library Poetry Group will meet on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Led by Natalie Ramos, this group of aspiring poets shares their work in a supportive environment.

The Adult Pinterest Craft Club will have a Paint Night on Tuesday, November 28, at 5:30 p.m. Participants can take a few hours to relax and create after the chaos of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with canvas, brushes and good friends.

Be prepared to paint something festive for the upcoming holidays. Registration is required to secure materials, so please sign up at the front desk or call to reserve a spot.

On Thursday, November 16, the N.C. Works Career Centers staff will be on hand to help veterans find jobs in their local area. They specialize in assessing your skills, planning career opportunities and preparing job seekers for interviews.

These sessions are designed specifically for military veterans and their families.

Area residents are also encouraged to join the Troutman Friends of the Library to support the library while earning discounts on their year-round book sale. With the $10 annual membership, patrons can help provide additional funding for library programs.

As an added perk of your membership, all Troutman Friends of the Library members have access to the $5 box of books sale year-round, which the public only gets during the last week of each month. Applications are available at the front desk.

On Monday, November 13, at 4 p.m. patrons Nikole and Morgan will teach participants to make decorative pens and cell phone holders out of fashionable duct tape at the Maker Monday Duct Tape Crafts event.

Registration is required, so sign up at the front desk or call to reserve a place.

The Teen Book Club will meet on Thursday, November 30, at 4 p.m. to discuss Insurgent, the second book in the Divergent series. After the discussion, teens will enjoy pizza during a showing of the movie based on the novel.

The LEGO Club Free Play event will be all day on Saturday, November 18. Kids of all ages can play their stress away as they build and design structures of their own making!

On Movie Monday, November 20, families can come to enjoy "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Families can bring their favorite movie snacks and start the week off with a bit of fun.

Kids can improve their reading skills and learn a little Spanish at Bilingual Story Time with Ms. Maxine and Ms. Becca on Friday, November 17, at 11 a.m.

In addition to enjoying fun stories with everyone’s favorite storytime lady, kids will get to make crafts. This fun activity will continue the third Friday of each month all school year long.
