The Town of Troutman is partnering with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church to collect supplies for those whose lives have been devastated by the terrible flooding and storms in Texas.

All donations should dropped off at Troutman Town Hall (400 N. Eastway Drive) by Sunday, Sept. 10. A collection area has been established in the lobby area.

Please consider donating Bibles, bottled water, cleaning supplies, pump (not can) mosquito spray, paper towels, shovels, rakes, tarps, pet food, and baby diapers.

Kids may want to make school kids for their peers in Texas. To create a kit, gather 4 notebooks of wide-or college-ruled paper (no loose-leaf paper), 1 pair of blunt scissors, 1 ruler with inch and centimeter/millimeter markings, 6 new pencils, a small pencil sharpener, an eraser, 12 sheets of assorted construction paper, 1 box (16-24 count) crayons, and place it in a cloth bag or backpack.

If you can include a calculator for a high school age kit, please mark kit as “high school level.”

Flood buckets are also needed. To create one, get a 5-gallon or 3-gallon bucket and pack it with 2 large trash bags, 1 gallon of bleach, Comet or other scouring cleanser, Pine-Sol or other liquid floor cleaner, a scrub brush, rubber gloves, and a dust mask (N-95 recommended).

Gift Cards from Walmart, Lowes, or Home Depot are also welcome to help victims purchase needed clean-up and reconstruction items if community members prefer.
