With sunny skies and light breezes, the Troutman Farmer’s Market opened its 2017 season on Tuesday with a selection of delicious baked goods, veggies, homemade snacks, plants, fresh eggs, hand-crafted jewelry, and several food trucks on hand. Visitors could also enjoy a quick massage to wind down after a stressful day at work.
Market manager Shannon Reidlinger, who is interning with the Town of Troutman, was pleased with the opening day.
“It’s been going really well. I think it’s even better than I anticipated. We did a lot of advertising and used the phone tree to let people know that this is going to be happening today and I think that helped out.”
“I’m excited about the number of people here and the number of venders here in particular, so up and up!” Reidlinger added.
Only vendors who sell produce or products that they themselves grow or make are allowed to sell at the market. No middle-men vendors or resellers are permitted in order to promote the grow, buy, and eat local philosophy of the market.
The Farmers Market will run each Tuesday through October from 4 to 7 p.m. under the pavilion at ESC Park through October.
