On Tuesday evening, the Vikings took over Troutman to celebrate its Homecoming Spirit Week with a parade down Main Street and then up Old Mountain Road to South Iredell High School. The Marine ROTC led the parade with the colors, followed by the SIHS band and flags.

Each class had an entry to demonstrate its school spirit, with balloons, fishing, and other themes. The homecoming contestants waved at spectators from their convertibles, followed by the cheerleading squads and varsity and junior varsity football teams.

At the parade’s conclusion, students enjoyed the Powderpuff Football game in the Viking Valley to continue the festivities.

Class spirit competition will continue with Twins Day on Wednesday, Fashion Flare with Wacky/Tacky accents on Thursday, and District Day on Friday with seniors wearing gold, juniors navy, sophomores white, and freshmen black. Students will also enjoy a pep rally on Friday morning.

The Homecoming game is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday against East Rowan. The Homecoming Queen and Princess will be crowned at halftime.

On Saturday students will round out Homecoming Week with a dance in the old gym. This semi-formal event will be from 7-10 p.m. for South Iredell students only. Dance tickets are on sale through Wednesday for $5 online or in Room N-102 before school or during SMART lunch. If paying online, students will need to stop by N-102 to get their tickets.
