Prep Soccer: Local teams begin conference play Monday

The North Iredell, South Iredell and Statesville boys soccer teams will play begin league play in the North Piedmont Conference on Monday.
Statesville (8-2-1) will attempt to extend its six-game winning streak when the Greyhounds travel to South Iredell (3-4-0). Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Greyhounds are coming off a 5-2 win over visiting A.L. Brown on Thursday. Senior Toni Pineda scored five times in the second half as Statesville overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat the Wonders. Sam Johnson had three assists for Statesville.
Meanwhile, the Vikings will attempt to remain unbeaten at home and stop a two-game losing streak. South Iredell dropped a 4-2 decision at Shelby on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, North Iredell (4-2-1) will open league play at home at 5 p.m. against Carson (2-8-0). The visitors have lost seven straight games.
The Raiders have been led by a stout defense, which has conceded only four goals on the season while recording five shutouts, including a 7-0 win over East Wilkes the last time out.
