More than 200 people kicked off the 2018 race season at Troutman’s ESC Park on a chilly but sunny Saturday morning at the 6th annual Sprint into Spring race.
Mayor Teross Young welcomed the 208 runners and their supporters and thanked the large number of sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event possible. The 5 K, 10K and Fun Run options gave runners and walkers of all ability levels a chance to get out and enjoy the sunshine and park facilities.
The top 3 overall male and female runners received awards, as did the top finishing males & females in the 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over age groups.
The event proceeds benefit the construction and development of Phase 2 of Troutman ESC Park, including the additions of a splash pad, a walking track around the soccer fields, and amphitheater.
In the past five years, over 700 individuals have participated in Sprint into Spring, raising more than $17,000 for Troutman ESC Park.
